What's the name of the eye disease that can be detected by "red-eye" in photos?
What's the name of the eye disease that they dicovered a few years ago could be detected if a person kept coming up with "red-eye" in photos taken of them. I have a friend whose baby (about 6 mos old now) has always got "red-eye" in every photo, no matter who takes them or where, and has since birth. I'm not talking about the whites of the eyes (it's NOT conjunctivitus), I'm talking about the pupils photographing red. I saw this on tv 2-3 times and read something about it, just can't remember now!

As far as I know it isn't a disease. Here's a site talking about what causes red pupils in pics, it says it has to do with blood vessels, not a disease.

I have never heard anything like that. I though red-eye in photo's came from the lighting.
