I have a wireless desktop set that includes a mouse, keyboard, and reciever. I cant get the keyboard to work.?
I bought a wireless set for my laptop, a Dell M1330 with Windows Vista. It came with a reciever that has on the back "Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Reciever 3.0A", The mouse is reads "Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000", and the keyborad reads "Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A". The reciever connects on one USB port and a PS/2 port.
Because my laptop doesnt have a PS/2 port, I bought an attachment that changes PS/2 to USB.
After using the mouse while waiting for the attachment, I usedd the mouse, but when I tried to use the keyboard after I got the part, it would not work. It connects to the receiver, and when I try to use it, a popup comes up on the windows system bar that states that a USB device malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. I have tried changing which port its plugged into. I think that it has something to do with a driver but when I tried to install it off the microsoft website, it still doesnt work.
The system
When installing the software I have tried, I cannot seem to find out which hardware to pick off the list that will allow my keyboard to work. My keyboard and mouse are both silver, if that helps. Can anyone help?

My cordless desktop set by Logitech works via *just* the USB cable, although it does have a PS2 connector as well. Have you tried just hooking up USB on its own?
Make sure you "connect" the keyboard to the receiver by pressing the buttons as per instructions.
