Is a U.S.A. Ac adaptor for Wii the same as a Europien one?

I just got one and it Blew up!I think its the Ac adaptor.Help Needed.

Sorry for the mispeling.By the way i-ve heard that there ar plugins of some sort.But my original that blew up didnt have any and it was U.S.
