Does my ethernet card limit my ISP connection?

I have cable internet. Its supposed to deliver 4.0 Mbps.I'm actually getting around 4.4 Mbps with an upload speed of 500.I was told by a friend that my computers ethernet card was limiting my speed because it was only allowing 100 Mbps in my network connections LAN.Does anybody know if this will improve my computers performance or ever dealt with thiss issue?

100Mbps is greater than 4.4Mbps. It's also greater than 500Kbps that you are getting for upload. So no, it's not limiting it.

Your computers Ethernet card is not affecting your cable Internet. You Ethernet card can transfer files at 100Mbps your cable Internet is only 4Mbps. Therefor your Ethernet card is not bottle necking your Internet access. If you're worried about your upload speed, talk to your cable company. Most cable and DSL links are asynchronous, meaning that they download much faster than they allow you to upload.
