When you purchase music from itunes it will be in the protected aac format that is unusable on a sony mp3 player.
This is how you get around this.
In itunes change the default from aac to mp3. Do this by clicking edit/preferences/advanced/import and change from aac to mp3.
Do this first.
Then check the format of the songs in itunes. Up where it says artist, genre, album, etc, right click and add a column called KIND. Once that column is added click it. This will arrange your music according to format.
For all the aac songs you see (not protected aac) highlight those. With those highlighted go to the advanced tab in itunes and click convert to mp3. This will convert all your aac songs to mp3.
For protected aac songs, or songs purchased thru itunes, you will have to make playlists of these songs no more then 1.2 hours long. Burn that playlist to a cd and without taking that cd out immediately import it back onto your computer. If you changed the default like I said it will import those songs onto your computer in the unprotected mp3 format.
Now all your music should be in the unprotected mp3 format. You will have copies of them in that format and the aac or protected aac format. You can delete the aac songs if you want.
Then have windows media player or whatever music player you are using with your sony research your folders for music. It will now recognize and add the mp3 files. It can not recognize and add aac or protected aac files.
You can now use those songs on your sony mp3 player.
It sounds more complicated then it is and once your music is in the mp3 format it will be usuable with ALL mp3 players and programs, including itunes and ipods.

I recommend downloading this program: http://musicstore.connect.com/custom/promos/downlo...
and buy a "Connect" so u can buy songs. This program is like itunes, but only for Sony products. If u want to, you can:
1. Buy the songs u want in itunes.
2. Burn them in a clean disc.
3. From the CD, import the songs to Sonic Stage.
4. Import the songs to the MP3.
This is pretty long, that's why I recommend buing a "Connect" card and buying songs from Sonic Stage.
Hope This Helps!
