Betta Betta Betta question?

okay i recently purchased a 10 gallon fish tank. i have absolutely no experience what so ever.I have a heater, my tank is cycling, and i have all the other accessories. I was thinking about putting a betta fish in my tank. i do realize you can not put more than one betta fish as they are rather aggresive, but i do not want my tank to be completly empty. Any suggestions as to other fish or creatures i can put in my tank to create a healthy happy environment for all?

any information would be great! thank you

im glad that uve chosen fishkeeping as a hobby

    ITS GREAT trust me :)

ok bettas are good but can be extremely aggressive towards fish such as other bettas, similar coloured guppies, dwarf gouramis (my fighter had problems with my dwarf gour. so i had 2 put it in a separate tank) There is almost an endless list of tropical freshwater fish you could choose but considering u have a small tank u are limited

    here are a few suggestions:

    rams(very beautiful and relitively peaceful)

livebearers(most are very easy to keep and and dont grow 2 big)

    tetras(neons,cardinals etc. best in shoals)

    corydoras(my favourite fish except loaches

excellent and very entertaining have 3+

    i hope this helps you

Fantastic!!! Betta do wonderful in community tanks, just about every freshwater tank i've ever had has had a betta in it. I'd go with some bright and beautiful Swordtails and platies (1 male 2 females or each type) and 3 cory cats (corydoras) all these fish are hardy and come in all types of colors. The platies and swords are livebearers which mean they breed often and have live babies, so if you don't want any babies just get 2-3 females of each, you could get all males but they most likely might fight it just depends though (just like people they all have their own personalities). I won't get anymore fish than those. I'm asuming you have a good filter, you should always try to get one that is one size up from the size tank its made for. So if you have 10 gallon size filter get a 20 gallon size filter instead, also over the side filters are the best, undergravel filters are kinda crappy I would not recommend those. You will also need decholrinator Stress coat is wonderful also you will need to get a water testing kit sometime it will help you keep track of your ammonia levels aswell as nitrite and ph. I could go on and on. Hope this helps!!!

Your betta is a good choice and there are plenty of other fish to live with your betta. Just ask your local pet mart they should know what would be the best for your tank

Get female bettas. You can put as many of them together as you want. They are beautiful too. Just only have one male with them though. Right now I have 4 female betas, one male beta, guppies, mollies, and mosquito fish all in one tank and they get along great.

Any kind of tetra, danio, minnow or loach are fine with bettas

Basically, any fish that isnt agggresive and doesnt look like a bettas (Guppys are sometimes a bit iffy because of their colours and fins)

Shrimp and snails are also fine
