Why is ESPN reporting Ohio State has only 5 Championships when they have 7?

Ohio St has won 7 national championships ???? in whose fantasyland ???? OSU has won FIVE national championships ..... 1942, 1954, 1957, 1968 and 2002. what additional two years do you think they won the NC in ????

blib .... WRONG. the NCAA doesnt recognize any "national champion" in college football before 1998 when the BCS was created. im not sure which ncaa website youre referring to, but its certainly not NCAA.org.

OSU does not have 7, they have 5, John already listed the years. There are countless organizations that hand out national championships, if you're going to count 2 of the Mom and Pop organizations, why not count them all and claim OSU has 20 national championships. After all, at least one of these meaningless organizations have named OSU national champions in a given year, for instance; 1974 Matthews Grid Ratings named OSU champions. In reality however, USC won the UPI poll and Oklahoma won the AP poll, therefore USC and Oklahoma split the 1974 national champions.

They are only counting the AP and coaches poll. Any other polling organization is BS and you know it. OSU only has 2 consensus and the others are a mixture of irrelevant polling organizations. Sorry.

They all use different polls. One of the polls that named OSU national champs twice isn't recognized by ESPN. The NCAA website says 7, but what do they know.

Who really cares how many titles they have? Doesn't matter because the number will remain the same after the game.

They have only five like USC and Miami. Alabama has six. Oklahoma has seven, and Notre dame has eight.

Whatever the number may be, it will be unchanged after 01-07-08.

I didn't know they have7 championships.....I thought they had 5. I am not trying to be funny either.....
