1965-1970 Dodge truck.?

I am building a 1970 Dodge Truck given to me by my father when I was 15. Like most people I have been buusy. But things are different and I need 2 things a place to get parts. Somewhere I might possibly can order a magazine just for the years mentioned above. The years are compatible. And secondly I am looking for a good 225 Slant Six block and head thats all I need. But it seems to be that the motor is a hard find used. Junkyards near me are no go. If I could order a new block reasonable that would be good. Because a complete engine is $2500. And I cant spend that right now and rebuild the truck as well. Any help would be appreciated. Happy New Year To All.

Update:

A ouple of you have suggested a 318 engine in this truck. I have 3:318 engines and several transmissions including automatic and manual. But I want a Slant Six yes they are hard to find but I will not stop looking. Thanks again.

The 225 slant six, aka "Tower of Power" was a great engine but as you have discovered is hard to find. As someone suggested, buy a 318 with transmission and use it. They are easy to find, easy to work on, economical if you don't get carried away with modifications, and will fit with ease. If you want a bit more than stock power, an aluminum intake and small 4-barrel and headers will do wonders for a 318.

slants are hard to find due to the fact they are very duable if you have the money you could buy a 318 or 360 v8 for less than 500 bucks and tranny but planning to use the slants tranny you need a different bellhousing but the slant is a great engine and rare so to go find a block and head go to ebay motors i found a few blocks and heads there

For used truck parts, try the "Rascal Flats" salvage yard in Salisbury, MO. I'm in the same area and I have a complete slant 6 engine in a Dodge car I won't ever use. I orginally got the car to have an extra engine for my combine, but have changed my farming operation. If you're close, holler.

a 225 was a very dependable engine but so is the 318 why not upgrade cid especially in a truck i don't it will be a real hard swap and than when you put weight in the truck you will be able to go up hill

Go to www.speedchannel.com to see if they can give you any helpful links. or try wwwspiketv.com as far as a motor,Try to find a wrecked mopar with the engine that you're looking for, or check the newspaper, maybe you can find a car with a crappy body, that has a good motor, or at least a rebuildable one. Good Luck

if you want a used one you can probably buy an old chrysler for cheaper than the motor itself... Just look at ebaymotors.com and look at the darts or chrysler "other cars"

It takes a little work to get them out, but if money is concerned that is a way to go..

Also if you are in the NYC area I know a few people who have them and would sell a used one for 500 or so.
