Sounds to me like you're right about the muscle spasm part. These can happen periodically and you have no control over them.

Shortness of breath could easily be caused unconsciously by anxiety about the condition. I wouldn't necessarily tie it to the spasm right away. But if so, that would mean something seriously wrong with your circulation, and you would be having much greater symptoms than slight shortness of breath. I wouldn't be worried. But it does no harm to just call up the doc. :)

oh OR it might just be that you are focusing on your pulse too much/ unconsciously and that is what you are feeling in your arm. I would say it's leaning towards a psychosomatic condition, and might just disappear if you focus on something else.

it could be that you strained your tricep or damaged a nerve, but if you're nervous and focusing on it, i'd say it's more likely a panic attack.
