I have a new computer do I need a cd to set up a web cam or can I download a program to run the webcab?

I had a bad coffee accident with the old computer and already have a web cam system set up. Can I just transfer the software or do I need a cd or set up system???

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Update:

The web cam didn`t come with a cd, should it have?

If the cd didn't come with your web cam, you will need to know what the brand is and go to the manufactures web site to get the driver for it, also make sure the driver is for your operating system that your using, as they use different drivers.

You do have to have the right driver which is probably on the cd, but many apps will likely be able to use your cam. Your not stuck with the software that come with it.
