Are lipids and fatty acids the same thing?

Sterol hormones such as calcitriol are a homologous system. The adrenal cortex and the gonads are primary sources of steroid hormones. Examples of eicosanoids are the widely studied prostaglandins.

Lipids are fats. Three fatty acid chains bound to a glycerol backbone make up a triglyceride. A phospholipid is one glycerol bound to two fatty acid chains and one phospate group.group. Steroids;cholesterol and waxes are also lipids.
