It should help some people understand that this is not a "conservative vs. liberal" controversy, as some special interests would like to misrepresent it.
Does the Bible Predict Global Warming?
"Some 2000 years ago the Apostle John who was exiled on the island of Patmos wrote a book called Revelation.
In Chapter 11 verse 18 he wrote "God will destroy the destroyers of the earth". When he penned those words, Rome was then the world power. What did they have at their disposal that they could possibly destroy the world with? -------- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
They had no industrial output, no chemicals, no vehicle emissions, no nuclear weapons or power stations. The most destructive thing they had was a spring-loaded catapult that could destroy buildings and city walls, but nothing whatsoever that could destroy the earth. "

If religion guides people to look after the earth better, great. They may disagree with me on ever so many things, but at the point of action we can come to some sort of agreement.
The leader of Canada's Green Party is training for entry into the priesthood, and gets strong support from a lot of other people of faith.
That does not imply that all people of faith agree with her politics any more than her religion. It does mean that people need not agree on religion to support her on the environment.
Now the Koran does not exactly describe a return to global warming, but id does suggest that the climate of the Arabian Peninsula may once again become wet, with tropical rainfall.
Global warming predicts both increases in desertification, major droughts, and ultimately a period of global rainy weather just before the next ice age.

They are about 6000 years too late with that .
The religion started out saying that the Wilderness and the animals were GIFTS of God to be tamed and hunted as they pleased.
We have tried for 7 years to get the church involved into telling people NOT to pollute and they flatly refused ,wont even come to the citizens meetings ,
Their concern is for the after life ,(off the planet ,heaven bound),
they have no interest in Earthly matters
Religious countries are infamous for being destructive towards Nature and animal cruelty, especially the Latin countries who are very religious.
They have gone out of their way to alienate people from Nature, and most skeptics and exploiters of Nature are Christians,http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjobS...
And the Very religious US government is not exactly being environmentally friendly abroad,http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aq_q8...
On the other hand Pagan cultures are more in tune with Nature ,respect it and treat animals as beings

im a christian so ill probaly hear about this soon again, but i think that we cant completely help that we damage the earth. i mean as technology increases we will have to do some harmful things but look how far we've come with cures. you have to look at the whole picture. plus if people are following the bible then they know that it says the world's not going to end because of man but by god himself, and that the date for this time is already set so we can do nothing to stop it.

Let's ask God what He thinks about us trashing the place. This isn't a cheap hotel room that God 'provided' us! We can't just trash it,and wait for room service to clean it up! In God's eye, pollution is a sin! Destruction of a species is a sin! Ignoring signs of impending self destruction is INSANE!

Revelation 16:8 The fourth angel emptied his bowl over the sun and it was made to scorch people with its flames; but though people were scorched by the fierce heat of it, they cursed the name of God who had the power to cause such plagues, and they would not repent and praise Him.
And people continue to say it's man's doing.

Well if religion helps solve the problem, that is good! I never really thought religion had much to do with the climate though

There IS no debate. It's a proven fact.
And scientific fields should only be debated by scientists and others with such an inclination. Afterall, would you want an amateur to come along and tell you everything you know is wrong? Are you going to take that amateur seriously?
