In some cultures of Africa and the middle east great big fat women are a status symbol, the bigger and blacker you are the wealthier and more successful and sought after you are. They are revered to be great breeders and fertility is a very desirable trait men pay very high dowries to a family to marry great big fat black women. So it depends on your cultural upbringing. If you watch foreign tv shows or do a little research you will understand better. Once these gals become assimilated here in America their traditional values often never change.

Also in ancient times this was the standard.  Being fat meant that you had the money to eat well and plenty.  So fat women were seen as desirable and beautiful.  Then, somewhere along the line America decided that it was better for women to be 'in control' of the appetites they have and we are now cast toward desiring food and lots of it...but restricting what we eat to show we are in control of our desires.  Pretty messed up if you ask me.  And yet, I can not get away from it!

By the sounds of it your statement seems to be directed at afircan people in that your refer to BLACK which is not exactly a common middle eastern characteristic in that most have light brown if not white skin. However that being said there might be some black middle eastern people although i don't believe that statement to be true as i myself who happens to be of middle eastern heritage never heard of that.
