You need to go to the department of children and Families and apply for assistance while your claim for Social Security is processed, You must be off work for one year before you can apply for social Security Disability Payments, so your Son and anyone else in the family who can contribute needs to do so.

Unemployment is only designed to pay people that are actively seeking employment. If you can not work you are not actively seeking employment. You 18 year old is an adult in the household and is just as responsible to pay for the household needs.
If you have minor children you should be able to get welfare. There may be state programs as well that can help you such as state disability.
You may also be able to find work that the doctor will allow. I do not know the extent of your disability and it is none of my business; don't post a description here for me.

Your doctor killed your unemployment opportunity because he is saying you aren't able to work; and the first condition of unemployment is that you are looking for a job and can take one when offered to you.
SSI is probably it

Welcome to the United States of America.
This would not happen in any other industrial country, but Americans believe that welfare is only for lazy people who deserve to be on the street begging for spare change.
My advice is to see an attorney about the SSI and a bankruptcy.
