Are George Foreman grills healthier than normal grilling?

I don't have a George foreman grill and would like some information.

It is claimed George Foreman grills are healthier, and yes they would be healthier than frying, but are they healthier than normal grills, if so why, because on other grills the fat runs away too?

For what reasons should I buy a George Foreman grill rather than use my own cooker grill which isn't that difficult to clean and also cooks quickly?

Well, I was one of those that just had to have a Foreman grill. 3 years later it's in the cupboard. I didn't find it to be any healthier than frying on a normal grill. I didn't find it as easy to clean as the commercials said and I found that it took too much room on my counter for the occasional frying that I do.

It has a lovely home beside all of those other appliances that were too good to be true.

Healthier? Pan Frying? When you cook it depends on the additives you add to the food you are cooking. If you need to use a pan just use a non stick or nice stainless steel and heat it up before you add the meat. You can coat the pan with HEALTHY olive oil to prevent sticking. Then just cook away. A Grill is easier to use since you just slap the piece of meat in between to hot pieces of metal and it cooks. So Being Healthy is false advertising from G. F.

  • Yes it cooks quickly because its pressed into the meat so the heat of the metal will sear it faster. Its like on a pan if you push it with a stapula, it would cook faster. but the problem is that the meat will lose all the juices from the grill and make the meat dry. Losing juice means less fat.

The GF is not lower fat than regular grilling, but it's sometimes more convenient. I find it works better for boneless chicken breasts becase they stay very moist.

I agree with you. The only claim to fame the GF has is the way the fat runs off, but it runs off in my Calphlon griddle pan too. I have not used my GF in several years.
