why can't people put what state they are in?

if you ask a question specificaly related to a state law or rule etc. putting the state you are in will get your answer narrowed down to what you need. am i wrong or does it just make sense

Update:

OK, i've called sort of called out, although this question is not state specific. I'm in TEXAS

I don't think a lot of people realize that laws vary from state to state or even county to county

This happens in all Q/A Forums. I answer lots of Plumbing questions and the Codes vary by State so I tell them to check Local Codes if I am not sure. People just assume that every place has the same rules.

pretty much EVERY law question that isn't specifically federal will be state specific. Common sense says just put the state in
