I had my hair dead by the same reason. I changed my hair colour too many times + always used straightener.
what I did was usig castore oil. I know it says put warm oil on your hair for 30 mins but Im leaving it overnight. (if its nartural castor oil, without chemicals!) it took me a month to see the results (I used the oil 1-2 times a week). my hair are long so I had to use about half of the bottle everytime. bytheway you can use Olive oil instead, it works nearly the same (you can buy it in every shop). then I know 1 great home-made masks that will make ur hair soft and shiny.
make a double boiler (saucepan that holds hot water 'NOT! Boiling water ;)', and a bowl that fits securely over the saucepan) put 2-3 big table spoons of honey, wait till it melts, then 1 big table spoon of oil (vegetable oil/any cooking oil), stir them well, then add couple drops of lemon (real lemon, not any chemicals for cooking. + if u dont have lemon its ok ;) for the ultimate shine its cool to add a big spoon of cocgniac or any %spirits(if you have them. if no its alright.). stir all this well. then leave it to cool down a little, so that u can put it onto your hair. boil the kettle, put the water in something where u will be able to put your towel for the hair (make sure water is not TOO HOT! so that u wont burn yourself. it just whould be bit more than warm). then when u thinks the mask is cool enough (but not cold! it should be warm) put it on your hair starting with the roots finishing with the ends. (i know this will be waay too sticky and stuff but still, it should be fine) then get the towel which u already had put in the hot water, squeeze the excess water (but dont make the towel too dry) and wrap it around your head/hair. leave it for a min or until its getting cold & repeat. do it 3-5 times and then wash your wair with your shampoo and things.
+ I would reccomend you to use l'oreal kerastase Bain Satin shampoo and conditioner/mask. its the real thing that works + the products have silicone ingridient which leave your hair silky smooth and shiny. and cut down on straightening. its really cool to have your hair the way it is, it some messy/natural style in the 2008 (Im fashion style maniac thats where I know it from ;D)
and I can suggest u to use clear henna (it has no colour.) it works wonders. ;)
anyway hope this helps u.

It sounds like you need a good leave-in conditioner or maybe some hot oil treatment.
Once your hair's extremely damaged though (split ends, breakage), it's actually time to cut it. You don't want the breakage to spread upwards, which it will if you leave it like that for too long.
Infusium 23 Moisturizing Formula & Nisim spray conditioner work very well if your hair's all dead looking. Salons even recommend them as well. Everybody's different though, so just try it out and see how well it improves your hair.
By the way, hurry and trim your hair. You're supposed to trim it 4 times a year to keep it in top shape. If you want better hair in the long run, stop straightening it and let it dry naturally by towel drying or putting the hair dryer on cold shot the entire time.
If you absolutely must straighten/style it for a big night out or something, use rollers. It won't damage your hair, and it looks naturally beautiful. Don't use the straightener when your hair's wet..it does much more damage, as wet hair's the most vulnerable. Curling/straightening it fries the moisture out of your hair, along with the hair's own moisture.

Hope your hair gets better soon

Then stop straightening it and invest in a good conditioner and let your hair air dry after you wash it.
It is obvious that your hair is suffering from heat damage due to prolonged use of your straighteners
If you want your hair straight use either large or jumbo sized rollers and let it air dry completely before removing them
The rollers will give your hair some volume with a little bit of curl at the ends which is a lot better than having dead lifeless hair

follow these tips to repair it # Have patience. # Take time out to care for your hair. # Change your diet to improve the health of your hair and minimize hair breakage. Eat a diet that is high in whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Be sure you are getting enough essential fatty acids, also known as omega-3. Some good sources of omega-3 include salmon, herring, flax seed, walnuts, olive oil and lean meats, among others. # Take vitamin E and B supplements, or better yet, take a multi-vitamin every day. It may take awhile before you see improved results in your hair, but adding these vitamins to your diet works toward repairing hair breakage from the inside out. # Use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners every time you wash your hair. Avoid pulling or twisting your hair when washing or drying it. # Get your hair trimmed regularly to prevent split ends from traveling up the hair shaft to the roots. It is a good idea to have split ends trimmed once a month. # the first home remedy is a hot oil treatment. This treatment is great for many things, however is perfect for hair breakage here is a great homemade remedy to treat breakage * The first home remedy is hair mayonnaise recipe. The first step is to combine and whisk two egg yolks in a small bowl. * now, cut an avocado into two halves. Remove the skin of one half and place it in a separate bowl. Then use a fork to mash the avocado. * Add 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil to avocado and whisk olive oil and avocado together until they are one texture. * Whisk the egg yolk separately. Then add the yolk to the avocado and olive oil blend; continue whisking until they are one composition. * Now apply throughout the hair, however concentrate on the areas that need it most (like the ends or hair in back of the head). * Leave in the hair for about a half hour and then shampoo and condition hair as usual. * Repeat these steps every 3 days or weekly until there is an improvement in the overall condition of the hair. You should be able to see results after about 2 to 3 weeks. If not, please consult with a professional.

1) hair is always dead
2) your hair is dry from all of the straightening, deep condition your hair once a week and cut back on the heat you use on it
3) your hair looks "good and healthy" probably because the stuff you use on your hair has cones in it so it produces a shine on the hair but it actually just sits on the hair strand & causes build up.
