What is the process in buying a home in your state?
I'm doing some research for a friend & was hoping anyone in the U.S. who has purchased a home in your state or knows about purchases, can help. I just need to know if your state is an escrow, title or attorney state. Basically, who do you go to for signing loan docs?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Here in SC we do all our closings in front of attorneys, works out well here in the Upstate as we have immediate recording on line at the office. All docs are signed during the closing with the attorney representing the buyer and loan company. Hope that helps

Ca and UT (where I live now) are both Escrow/Title states. You sign docs either at the escrow company or in front of a notary. Most of the midwest to the west coast are the same. New York is an attorney state, last time I checked. I haven't worked with many eastern states. If you want more info on CA or UT, you can contact me.
