Does McCain see himself as war time leader, or will he try to keep us out of further military conflicts?

McCain said “It’s a tough war we’re in. It’s not going to be over right away. There’s going to be other wars. I’m sorry to tell you, there’s going to be other wars. We will never surrender but there will be other wars.”

He urged the expulsion of Russia from the G-8. He wants to expand NATO to bring in Georgia and the Ukraine. This could mean confrontation between Russia and the United States.

    Tough question...

It is hard to look at the usual rhetoric about standing tough in the face of aggression (typical Republican election time rhetoric) without seeing it through the lens of what W did.

To give McCain some credit, I think he sees the difference between campaign rhetoric and real geo-political realities (something Bush was NOT able to grasp). So, I think McCain is referring to "other wars" in a general sense of there will be other conflicts in the history of the United States; not I am going to bomb the sh*t out of everyone who looks at me cross eyed.

Quite frankly, Russia needs to be confronted diplomatically anyway. We have revived their economy through petro-dollars and with it have revived a nationalist sentiment. The reality is, there will not be another cold war because Russia can't afford it. They are a semi-industrialized third world country that has an inflated economy due to the high price of crude oil. When the hyper-industrialized West gets serious about other sources of energy you will see Putin, Chavez, and the oil Sheiks disappear from the world stage.

By the way, I thought the expulsion of Russia from the G8 was a dead issue... was it revived recently?

    Hope this helps,

    Good luck!

PS The whole, "I looked into his eyes and saw KGB" thing is a reference to Bush's "I looked into eyes and I saw his soul." Obviously, Bush was flat wrong about Putin.

McCain was repudiating that wrong-headed assessment of Putin's commitment to democracy and rule of law (and rightfully so, I might add).

John McCain does see himself as a war leader and has said as much in the public media. He has taken a hard line on Iran, and has made jokes about Iran in his song "bomb Iran," that was played by the media when McCain was attempting to make a joke.

Unless Congress starts to use the Constitutional power that it has, and John McCain stays true to his hawkish nature, I think we will see unending war and our country will go the way of the Old Soviet Union, because spending all on guns and nothing on butter a bankrupt country does create. I honestly do not know why people do not have the common sense to understand the consequences of constant war.

Source(s): Interviews with John McCain by the media, and years of McCain watching.

His talk on more wars coming is truly scary, also during the last repub debate, the moderator presented a quote that said when McCain looked into President Putin's eyes, he saw KGB - that quote isn't comforting. McCain is clearly telegraphing his mindset of pro-wars.

Should McCain become president, the America public have already been forewarned - it's their young sons and daughters, brothers and sisters who will be fighting these wars and maybe becoming maimed or possibly losing their lives due to McCain's extremely aggressive wartime views.

Your first mistake replaced into watching tabloid information classes. Any of that Fox nonsense isn't something however the national Inquirer on television. Their in basic terms memories are sensational products, and in the event that they could't locate something sensational, they deliver about about it. it is all approximately promotion promotion and making Rupert Murdoch extra prosperous than he already is. Silliness, and the yankee public eats it up. those information readers have not extra political acumen than you do, in all probability much less. The colonel replaced into completely interior her rights to resign her fee. Her motives are her business enterprise. as quickly as she has resigned her fee, she will say what she needs like everybody else in this u . s .. the only proviso to that's passing on categorised textile she could have been attentive to. it somewhat is a no-no.

You bet McCain sees himself as the leader of the wartime effort... an Eisenhower or Roosevelt... he has dreams of big success.

If he has his way we will be in this war forever.

Part of the reason I prefer combat veterans as leaders is that they generally despise war as a solution to problems but recognize that it sometimes is necessary, although not generally necessary as often as non-combat veterans seem to think. So, they reserve it as a last ditch solution and a mark of failure as a leader when they have to fight one. I see nothing to be alarmed about in his answers.

I personally guarantee he will get us into another war.

Though it is naive to say that we will never be in another war, it does take the right kind of personality to start a war. His hot temper is perfect, and his whole life has involved the military. He won't let four years go by as commander in chief without testing his ability to command a war. It is too tempting for him.

You really should watch this video, it will really scare you:

It looks like you answered your own question. Yes, McCain is hawkish, but at least he is honest about it---so much so that I will probably not vote for him in the general election. (Yes, he will get the Republican nomination.)

  • McCain if properly examined would probably be legally insane the way he foams at the mouth and goes on about obliterating other nations. It could be because of the POW thing, idk, but it's pretty scary.

i think his idea is to maintain the current affairs i don't believe he will intentionally try to start anything this has never been successful for any president
