About unit matrices?

I want to know if a 3by2 unit matrix can become the identity when it is multipled by a 2by2 matrix.

Well call the 3x2 matrix A and the 2x2 matrix B. Note we cannot calculate BA as the dimensions do not coincide correctly so the only way we can multiply is to find AB.

But AB is a 3x2 matrix, so cannot be the identity. So in answer to your question - No.

No, because only square matrices(nbyn) should be identity matrices and the matrix that you get will be a 3by2 matrix.
