I think she was being true to her own experiences as young people tend to be. And you can't truly form an accurate opinion by this article unless you read the original thesis.

I think most of the people that have critiqued it are forgetting what time period she wrote it in.....

That she and her pastor are of one mind and spirit.

Her statements and conclusions actually aren't that radical and they certainly aren't racist.
