Why does YA put cycling under sport not transportation?
I've been using Yahoo Answers for some time but when I found nothing about cycling under 'transportation' I had assumed it was not here at all. :( I've just found it under sport.
But cycling is a perfectly viable form of transport, not just a leisure activity.

Two possibilities:
1. Transportation lost the coin flip
2. The person doing the categories wasn't a cyclist. Non-cyclists think of two things when they think of bikes: Lance Armstrong and kid's toys. Transportation isn't on their obese, SUV driving, cell-phone yapping radar.

Cycling if by far used more for fun and sport than for transportation in most countries. That's why it's listed here. Maybe some day it will be listed under transportation too - before we all weight 500 lbs and ruin the planet!

If you are going by the book, it should be questions about cycling as a sport, non sport questions about cycling in transportation, as long as it works for you i wouldn't worry

i personally use the cycling section for questions regarding cycling as a sport/leisure activity as i cycle for for that than just transport.
but i do agree with you maybe there could be two sections for more specific answers

Cycling is a well publicised acknowledged sport. I think you are splitting hairs!
A runner for examle could carry a back pack with goods in. Transport or sport?

Uh, because it's a sport ? You think hunting is a sport ? I don't...Riding a bike can be both.
