I use a Logitech diNovo Edge. It has a mousepad (and volume control) instead of track ball. But it uses Bluetooth and has Li-Ion battery, so you can charge it anytime (30 days between charges).
But I have been using mousepads since long before they became popular for laptops, since I used to have my tower PC on the floor and monitor on a coffee table, and mousepad was easier than using a mouse on my leg. But now I got the wireless keyboard for using my laptop VGA on my 40" LCD HDTV.
