Even Scientology?

In 1950 Hubbard published Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, introducing his "science of the mind," Dianetics. He classified homosexuality as an illness or sexual perversion.

How come no one ever question L.R.Hubbard and his religion, why not go to his church?

Update:

Then why are Christian's alway bash when it comes to this topic. In Islam they stone you if you don't repent and stop. There a lot of others, but again it is the Christians that get harrased the most.

Update 2:

Mark b. brought up a good point, even in a religion that is brand new, they too can't come eye to eye on there own rules. Not just Christians, goes to prove that people have there own motives. Mark B. regardless if it was 1950's thinking he was the founder and he set the rules.

You're right! No one ever questions scientology.

No one ever protests it or says how horrible it is.

Man, I never realized that before. *rolls eyes*

Hate to disappoint you but in 1950 pretty much "everybody" thought of homosexuality as either a mental illness or a sexual perversion, including many gays.

Hubbard's prejudice merely reflected the times & culture of which he was a part, as did his personal views on many topics.

You might want to google "stonewall" with respect to homosexuality and get some chronological perspective on the historical event in the u.s. that triggered "gay pride".

What is unconscionable is the degree to which some scientologists who are members of the Co$ STILL discriminate against gays based on the personal prejudices of a man who died in 1986.

I am a freezone scientologist. I am not affiliated with the Church of Scientology.

Freezone Scientology practices scientology independent of the church of scientology. Generally, they refer to themselves as "freezone" or "independent" scientologists.

A lot of people question Hubbard and his religion.

But, scientologists are not in the practice of being very outspoken about Gay people.

They have their opinion and keep to themselves.

  • Yes, considering he was operating under 1950's mentality, it makes sense that he'd incorrectly classify homosexuality.

Then again, he got a LOT of things wrong.

    Scientology is a cult.

I mean, Tom Cruise supports it. It must be insane.

    Who cares what Hubbard thinks?

He couldn't "classify" anything, as he was a science fiction writer, not a doctor.

Twisted cult. Many issues. Doesn't merit mentioning in R&S.

Scientology is a scam. Made up just to make money. Why would anyone go to something like that?
