Repl non tach cluster in 97 escort w/ one that has a tach .?

I've answered a lot questions on the forum mainly for VW owners, now, I need a question answered from someone, I hope you Ford guys can help: I got a 97 Escort s/w with manual trans, I would like to know if there is any difference in the cluster between an automatic model and stick model. I want to put in a cluster that has a tach, but when I ask most of the people selling them they cannot tell me if it came out of a standard shift car or not. Does it matter if the cluster came out of automatic car or not.. will it work without any problem? Hope you can help, thanks, A car nut.
