Your Opinion...?

Action is when resolutions made in an inspired moment are put to the test against familiar temptations.

Action is when you consciously decide to undertake any act.

You're talking about a test of will-power or about Selbstbeherschung - this is a better word than the English word self-discipline. It means ruling oneself. You have already established control over yourself. Self-discipline means, in essence, punishing or rewarding one's self in an attempt to modify behavior, or training yourself to act in a certain manner. It is disciplining one's self.

Action encompasses a MUCH broader spectrum. I think some of these people don't understand exactly what you've said and what it actually means, but think it sounds good.

No. It is a nice turn of phrase. And action is called for in that situation. However action is generated whenever there is any sort of objective and the actor (not the stage or fim type, but merely the sense of one who performs an action) encounters any type of obstacle to that objective, even when the objective is as simple as wanting to answer this question and the only obstacle is the thought required to formulate a response and send the appropriate signals to my fingers.

That sounds like the famous last words of brave men -- those who did not do small scale tests first.
