Your Opinion...?

The surest path to humility is not to stoop until you are smaller than yourself, but to stand straight and then measure yourself against some higher nature-- that will show you what the real smallness of your greatness is.

I like this, I have never heard it! Yes, true humility is not making ourselves small, it is seeing our reality, both assets & warts. In a sense, many keep the Divine small by keeping us small. If any of us could truly fathom our real nature, it would bring us to our knees in tears of joy & gratitude. We are powerful Beings that have amnesia. Collectively, we are the Son / Daughter of the Divine. It says the Divine made man in his image & likeness. When I have a child, that child has all the potential & abilities I have, I don't give birth to a puppy!. What does this tell you about our potential in relation to our Father/Mother? Lovely quote!

    Blessings!

To me humility is understanding that we are all humans...and that life isn't fair, so we should understand that we don't know the circumstances of other peoples lives...with that being understood we don't make false assumptions about people...

It's really complicated to find that balance in this...obviously we still need to try and better ourselves, but the issue of humility is based on the fact that just because we are getting ahead of some people in life, that they aren't inferior to us from falling behind....once that is understood, it gets allot easier to get along with people...trust me i know....but then again that's just my opinion

as for your opinion... i understand what you mean, and that it can work... but us humans are tricky buggers with our egos...sometimes we will use that excuse of measuring ourselves with a higher nature, to just make us seem like better people, because with that mind thought, it could easily be turned selfish....IE, I measure myself with a higher nature, so that i can really justify to myself that i'm better then other people who don't measure to the higher nature....

Humility is not thinking less of yourself, its thinking of yourself less

Sounds good to me. I'm not much into humility. But the truth, and reality, as much as one can know it, is everything, to me.
