On a Dual Boot Windows XP - Ubuntu, How to make Windows XP the default OS?

When I start up the computer, it gives me 10 seconds to to choose between Ubuntu or Windows XP to boot. If i am slow to choose, once the 10 seconds pass Ubuntu loads up automatically.

Is it possible it make Windows XP to boot up after the 10 seconds instead of Ubuntu?

    go to /boot/grub/menu.lst

On the line saying "default X", change X to 1 if it is 0, and vice versa.

I think you can't do that. Though i don't have much knowledge about linux. I also dual booted ubuntu with xp. The above answer is not a solution to your problem because boot.ini handles only the operating systems managed by windows' own boot loader. But when you install linux it installs its own boot loader . so it appears to window as is there is only one operating system installed.

assuming your keyboard works whilst Ubuntu starts off up, you may get carry of and deploy a grub editor, and then edit your grub menu so residing house windows xp is on the right of the checklist. I do discover it staggering which you're keyboard would not artwork in the grub menu
