Do you think that punishing bullies is always the best way to get them to stop?

Punishing is not always the best way. It makes bullies even more angry and increases their will to vully others. Just remember that everything you do comes back, so I believe that they'll definitely get the same one day in future.

Who is the bully? If it is your kid then yes it is the best way as for what would be right that is hard to say without some background info on the particular bully.

If you are a teacher or the like and see kids having trouble with bullies then likely there is not much that you can do to help unless you are creative. That does not mean you should let them get away with stuff if the kid that is getting bullied asks for help. If you are not asked to get involved make sure that by getting involved you are not making it worse.

All of that said normally bullies get away with stuff because of a reputation, the best way to stop or slow them down is figure out how to wreck their reputation with their peers and those they are bulling.

You look a bully in the eye and tell them you did it to me this time,if you do it again you will get it back!!!

After you have warned them ,if they are stupid enough to do it again,give them a good hit knock them to the ground,put out your hand to help them up,see if they are ok and walk away.

A bully usually picks on someone who is intimidated by them.

Stand your ground!!

On the other hand it takes two to make a fight.

The man with moral courage will think if I fight back will this solve anything?

He concludes it will not so he walks away ,being called a coward,in actual fact he has the power because it takes greater strength to walk away than to get into it.

i once made a nasty poster with the picture of this girl who was a bully and a *****, made loads of copies, got in to school real early and just put them everywhere. she was the kinda girl who would be rude to people who were ugly/not popular etc. she was really horrible for no particluar reason.

there was a HUGE thing about the posters, and no-one found out it was me and my m8 lol. the girl has been a lot nicer since. trust me, she deserved it.
