Do you know the spelling rule on how and when to “…er” vs “…or”?

Examples include:

It doesn't seem to be a spelling rule so much as a shared origin - the -or words you gave came from French in the 13th and 14th century, while the -er ones are more recent. It's something you'll just have to know from word to word.
