Why did ibn Katheer write the chapter of Jizya as "Paying Jizyah is a Sign of Kufr and Disgrace"?

The verse of the Quran you mentioned deals with the non-muslims who are hostile to Islam and wage war on Muslims. like the Arab pagans who persecuted and waged war against the early muslim community.

the verse that come before these verses should make it clear.

and i dont trust the hadith over the quran

I will not comment on that hadith because this hadith

contradicts with the Quran and other hadiths . I was shocked when I read it before .

About the verse :

9 : 29

Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low

The verse is talking about a certain type of the people of holy books :

1. They don't believe in Allah and the last day.( Are all Christians and Jews are like that ?)

2. They don't forbid what Allah has forbidden .

3. They don't follow the religion of truth ( the word Islam here is not mentioned at all ).

The verse is talking about those who start to attack Muslims from the Jews and the Christians and if Muslims gained victory over them then they have to pay jizia as a punishment because they lost the battle .

Fighting in Islam suppose to be self defense only , if they started to attack us.

I believe this verse was reveled at that time when prophet Muhamed had enemies from the Jews and the Christians .

Paying Jizya is a sign of Kufr and Disgrace because it is a special tax withhold by the islamic government to the non muslim inhabitants as a compensation for security service for them.
