Did you ask to see your signed copy of this agreement?

If your boss cannot produce one, then you dont have to pay anything.

No business can force you to pay for shortages that they cannot prove that you did not cause.

Call the Labor Board or the Wage and Hour office.

If this employer is doing this, then it needs to stop if they cannot prove anything.

Besides, who's to say the boss isnt the one causing the "shortage" to get people to pay them money for thier own personal use?

If you have signed, then you must pay. But, the employer needs to be able to identify who caused the shortage. I do not think that all employees can be held liable. I would ask state dept of labor.

Employer has burden of proof to show that there is a shortage. (For example, iot could be computer error.) In addition, burden of proof to show responsible party. Thier could be grounds for reuiring that money taken form yhour pay is refunded.

Federal law makes this illegal. They cannot make you pay it. Contact the Wage and Hour Board at the Labor Dept.

It's legal if you signed the agreement.
