do only people with really bad problems see a psychiatrist?

i am goin to see one next week but i am a bit scared i am wasting there time, i dont have a sevire problem like u would expect to see if you went to a psychiatrist, is it still ok to go or will i be wasting there time? i have depression

    You go to a psychiatrist so that you can be prescribed the proper medication usually after you will just see a counselor and only see the Psychiatrist every couple of months to check up on medication.

    No you don't have to be completely quackers to see a Psychiatrist, they are there to help with any sort of mental stress or worry, the smaller your problem the quicker it will be sorted and you can stop worrying .

    no you wont be wasting their time. They will treat you the same as they would anybody else.

    It would be worth mentioning to them that you feel that you are wasting their time, im sure the doctor will reassure you that this is not the case

    I just want to correct someone else's response.

    Psychiatrists are NOT only for medication, they can also offer other therapies sometimes such as CBT.
