Why am i not a Top contributor?

Who ever told you that you required ten percent of best answers in a specific category was not entirely accurate.

This is not to say they are lying, however there has never been any proof that users require any specific amount of best answers or a best answer percentage in order to obtain top contributor status. This has been passed around the community as a rumour as opposed to fact.

All we do know is that top contributors are extremely active members of the community, most likely logging on each day in order to answer peoples questions.

I have reviewed your account and you certainly appear to be very active within the community. Always try to answer at least twenty questions a day within your specific category.

Also note that top contributor status needs to be earned over time and not instantly. It could take a few weeks of continuous answering before you earn the badge.

My advise, keep up the good work and the best answers over the next two weeks and you should earn the title sometime in July.

Do you participate on a regular basis? Meaning, do you answer about 40 to 50 questions a week in Video and Online Games, and do you get atleast 4 to 5 best answers in a week?

The formula to become a Top Contributor is purposely kept a secret by Yahoo! Answers. However, through my own "research" and what other resourceful users of this site have told me, I can tell you that the 10% of best answers "law" is completely bogus! There is NO such rule that says that - it's just an estimate! Also, there is no rule that says you have to answer 50 questions a week or get 20 best answers a month - these are all just speculations.

What you should do is continue to remain active on this site. Keep giving good answers and STAY IN ONE CATEGORY! Some people spread themselves out too thin - they go in any random category. Stay in Video and Online Games if you want that orange badge!

Vote yourself for Best Answer on questions you've answered that are in voting! - this is NOT cheating, and it's perfectly fine to do so. In fact, I do it many times myself and so do other TCs on Yahoo! Answers.

Just as important, it may take more than one week for you to become a TC. For most users, it's taken 2 to 3 weeks. For some, it's taken a month or so. If you continue to give your full input on this site, you will surely get results. I wish you the best of luck :)

Top contributor is based on "current activity". You need a high best answer percentage and answer count in a single category over a certain amount of time. All these exact parameters are kept secret but the guess is 10% and 40-50 answers in a category over the past month.
