it is probably a heat issue open up the case make sure there is nothing blocking the cpu fan run a vacuum over the fan to clean it off as well as any other fans also make sure there is lots of ventilation so its not in a cupboard or desk that blocks the cooling may need to put a fan near it to circulate air
it might also be a failed or failing cpu fan they are easily replaced if you have the right tools and time buy 1 swap it out
if not take it to a shop they will swap it out probably for 20 plus parts which will be 10-60 bux

Most likely the power supply has burned out. That happens after so many years and causes that problem. You could add a new one, but it's probably time for a new computer. You would probably need a 300 Watt Power supply.

Aside from the power supply. if you have visited the internet, your pc could be updating stuff before reaching the shutdown subroutine. hope you have a good spyware/antivirus package.

Its either the CPU is too hot, Power supply is about to die out,or the system information corrupted. my suggestion is to take it to a PC technition.

Could be overheating.
Shuts itself down if it gets too hot.
or faulty power supply?
might want to take it into a shop to get it checked out.

I dont think it would have shutdown, I think it would either have gone into hibernation (A save progress shutdown like property), stand-by, or sleep mode.
Hope this helps.
