Is working out with cables a good idea?

Im weight lifting with free-weights and machines. Should I add cables to my workout? I heard its a good way to finish the reps.

    Only if you know what you're doing. It's also a good way to get hurt.

    Free weights are better, cables hooked up to weights don't really work muscles as much as free weights. Free weights require technigue whereas cable weights don't. Its all about the technique.
