CCC46-47
Starting from creation, that is from the world and from the human person, through reason alone one can know God with certainty as the origin and end of the universe, as the highest good and as infinite truth and beauty.
CCC37-38
In coming to a knowledge of God by the light of reason alone man experiences many difficulties. Indeed, on his own he is unable to enter into the intimacy of the divine mystery. This is why he stands in need of being enlightened by God’s revelation, not only about those things that exceed his understanding, but also about those religious and moral truths which of themselves are not beyond the grasp of human reason, so that even in the present condition of the human race, they can be known by all with ease, with firm certainty and with no admixture of error.

I do think so, and maybe I am wrong and to know god with only the light of human reason would probably be after all possible

It is not possible to know God through human reasoning alone.
God gave gifts to the church: apostles prophets evangelists & teaching pastors to equip the saints to the work of the ministry. Some are without understanding. Mk.4:11-12. The god of this world has blinded their minds. . 2Cor.4:1-6. God gave sowers of spiritual things 1Cor.9:7-14.
No man comes to the father except the spirit draws him!

One vein of thought is through worship and reflection upon the Glory of God independent of the human Soul, this is duality. Another vein sees God as the Singular, all emanates from God therefore God is inherent to our Soul as we are one with God, a reflection of God, the Dream played out by the Dreamer and rejoining and absorption of the Soul by God is integral therefore it is impossible not to know God intuitively. Two very different paths, yet both within the humans capacity of reason. Good luck on Your journey, may Your days be free of doubt.

The "idea" of God in the light of human reason, must of had a source.
The paradigm of the human intellect being the sum total of input (reasoned, then rewritten, then passed on) suggests that there must have been a beginning.
(forgive my time constraints - I could go all day on this one)
I would suggest researching Thomas Aquinas....but, I suspect you already knew that.

It is not possible, God is beyond us, as far removed as we are from the stars. Only by accepting what Christ has done for us on Calvary, are our spiritual eyes opened 'born again'. It is not human reasoning but human faith in our Redeemer, that opens us up to the Holy Spirit. Who then guides us if we allow Him.

Jesus Christ the great teacher who was guided by the Holy Spirit showed us how. He pointed out in many parables the truth of God's presence and goodness everywhere in their lives. The absolute certainty with the simplicity of that truth was easy for their human reason to understand for they could see God as he taught and showed them. And for that the common people often heard Jesus gladly as it says in Mark 12:37.
Great men of the past knew these Biblical stories about Jesus and early men of science even could see the wonder of God everywhere. But we need not be great men of science. But what we have learned by faith in believing what we have been taught. It is for certain with that background we can use our God given human reason to see the love of God everywhere.
