I agree that some of the names parents come up with are Ridiculous.
but should a judge have the right to take the child away from the parents for it?
It's not abuse, it's not neglect, nor is it molestation, or ANY form of child endangerment.
The name is ridiculous, but come on, taking the custody away from the parents is just as ridiculous. I heard of a girl named racism. And no judge took custody of her.

There is an element in this society that does not realize that people are not perfect and expects others to meet their criteria for perfection.
Things like your link come out of this mentality.
So these kinds of people impose their judgements on others, particularly those less influential than them.
In my opinion, the nation needs to fight back against these types of people, but history tells me that won't happen for some time.
Right now, freedoms are being attacked but the burden is on the poor, minorities, immigrants, and the working class.
As per usual, the "superior" people will get bold and start going after other groups more and more.
The nation as a whole will tire of it and rebel in various ways and this kind of behavior and laws will be overturned.
Then, the pendulum will swing back the other way again until there is too much permissiveness.
This is the way of things, since human history began.

Ha, I was just reading that.
I think that its right for the judge to change the child's name.
Tula Does the Hula?
Can you imagine how much ridicule she would experience. She could forget about being taken seriously in a professional atmosphere.

If spanking is considered abuse, giving a child a name like those certainly is. I'd find it a heck of a lot more traumatic to have a name like "Lula does the Hula" than get a wooden spoon to the arsse.
Parents need to realize that giving their child a "unique" name does not guarantee that child will be creative and artistic. They also need to realize that they shouldn't smoke crack when they think of names.

A girl named racism? Was her name Racism Jenkins by any chance? What point was her mother trying to make? Well, some of these names can get ridiculous....let me ask you....if your mother named you Cell Phone Jones or Reebok Smith....would you or would you not want someone to step in and change it?

as soon as America wakes to the fact that they just live in a really big prison then the few might stand for the totality of abuse going on in America now--if you don't believe it try to leave the country without their permission and if you have to ask permission then how free are we--the rest of the laws are falling all around us and nothing is done--

It doesn't seem like it, it is happening. When did you actually think you were totally free?

Freedoms are relative, not absolute.
Now, let's see if your papers are in order...
