Let's face it, if you aren't in the water, you won't surf better. PERIOD. Now, being in a little bit better condition, and improving you balancing muscles can only help when you get in the water.

Now, let's forget about all of the jump on the bed crap, it doesn't help. Work on basic conditioning. Swim (I know, pools aren't the oceam but if you got the motion...). Run (I used to, and it was a big help), do squat thrusts to work your legs and core, and to develop that 'popup motion. If you work out with weights, do dumbbell bench presses (http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/PectoralSterna... they work your delts, pecs and biceps, paddling muscles. Also if you work out with weights, do squats and/or dead lifts.

Although I have always been a little turned off by skateboarding (too many falls on the cement), it helps develop balance. So does an Indo board.

I don't get to surf anywhere as much as I want to, and it shows in my performance in the water. But, when I wasn't an old fat guy, being good condition helped make up some of the difference.

I have been surfing for 42 years, and I have never once practiced on my bed. Okay? Good luck! Keep on surfin'!

honestly do as what the guy said above but do it on a bed other wise u will compress your board.

you should all so do some weights on your legs.

I'm serious if you can get strong legs and abs you will notice the difference in the water when try to do cut back and just the all round control of your board.

all so try balancing on some type of thin rail or something like that for your balance ..

once again it will help you alot in the water

    hopee this helps a bit.

Try practicing you stance and you climb up on the board on the floor. It is not fun at all, but it will help you get the movement down to second nature.

Try different boards. Are you on a long board or a short?

There is not much else you can do outside the water.

    San Diego, sun at 8PM
