Do we realy want higher taxes ?

Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.

www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008

Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500

Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500

Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000

Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250

Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates

It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened.

Update:

I suspect this includes the hidden taxes like ssi , fico and others

Update 2:

I got to look at one of the "Fair tax" proposals and wasn't very impressed with it being so fair. A straight percentage would be more truhful as to the real cost

The only truly fair tax is also unworkable and would never be allowed to pass.

If we taxed everyone exactly the same, no matter their income, age, or ANYTHING it would be fair. Bill Gates would pay the same as the bum under the bridge. A infant the same as a 80 year old man. They all, in theory, get the exact same protection from our military, FBI, police, social services, clean air, roads, education, etc. People like Gates are just smarter so he takes advantage of all of the opportunities (just look at his unethical manipulation of the h1b visa program).

As always the problem lies with the details. Since we could never collect anything from the bum (blood from a turnip theory) and most people who have kids could never pay their fair share we must then collect more from other people. Hence the wealthy and childless pay a lot more then the poor and the breeders. A few politicians mutate the idea a little and we are no better off towards fairness then we are now.

If you add these tax rates to your medical insurance cost, you will find you are actually better off in a high tax country like Canada. At least until you make over $100K a year.

And contrary to the propaganda here, Canadian medical care is excellent.

I dunno, dude.....I looked up my old tax records. I made $32,000 in Clinton's last year in office and I paid $1800 in federal tax and $300 in state tax. $2100 total. I'm single with no dependents. I know for a fact I didn't pay the feds $8400. What we do need to do is sent Iraq a bill for the billions of borrowed dollars we've spent and now owe. Baring that there's no doubt we're financially screwed unless we do raise a 'war' tax to pay off the loans.

An option to stay away from the 6.5% tax is to have your purchases mailed homestead on the component of sale. no count if it incredibly is to an handle outdoors of Florida, the tax is going away. (there is obviously the transport charge, yet there have been cases whilst i replace into down there the place i offered extremely some stuff at one shop and the transport charge replace into definitely greater value-effective than the tax).

With the current deficits we have from the current administration, what choice do we have? Would you rather we keep borrowing money with interest from other countries?
