A female dogs estrus cycle (heat cycle)

Proestrus- the dog starts bleeding from the vulva and develops progressive swelling to the uterus last 5-9 days on average. Ovulation usually occurs towards the end of proestrus. The female becomes attractive to the male.

Estrus- the bleeding diminishes but the vulva remains swollen; the dog is receptive to males at this time. Two days after ovulation the eggs can be fertilized by sperm. Estrus on average lasts 6-12 days.

Diestrus- the dog comes out of heat and the vulva begins to return to normal. If the dog becomes pregnant, the egg implant at this time and pregnancy begin

So approx 21 days.

3 more weeks as you want to be really sure... some may be less you'd have to check with your vet. I am giving you my cut and paste answer because your dog may end up pregnant even if you are very vigilant.
