some one said it was 16, but i thought the Romanian Gyist who got the perfect score was only 10 or 11

It depends on the sport, apparently.
Gymnasts must be 16 or turning 16 during the calendar year of the Olympics (so they could be 15, almost 16)
There's a diver who is 14 and that is allowed, I'm not sure of the minimum age though.

It has to be 16 and above cause Americans are complaining that the Chinese women gymnastics are underaged around 14 and on record they passing of as 17 years

Generally 16.
But in some sports theres loophols - eg. if you place in a world championship and you're underage you can compete. A lot of these are gettting abolished though.

14 except for gymnastics, you have to be 16!

there is no minimum age coz phelps started at 15 i think lol =]
