What is your definition of life?

What characteristics are necessary for a thing to be alive? And can a non-material soul be alive by your charcteristics?

    I believe any thing can be alive. If someone cares for something then it is alive. For example if a little child cares for a teddy bear that teddy bear is alive for them.

    Here was me thinking you were asking me to define reality.

    Anyway-

    1) Sentience is required, and the assumption that life requires biological matter in order to survive is just that - an assumption.

    We don't know any better... Yet.

    2) That depends on whether or not the non-material soul can remember the blueprints of the mind once it has exited the body.

    p.s; Was it wrong of me to assume there was an answer?
