How does DECT 6.0 compare to 5.8 GHz?

Is it the same quality or better or worse? I have never heard of this before and I went to Wikipedia and looked up what it is. What I want to know is how do they compare? Is one better than the other? Could you say the quality would be the same?

    I have both - and I like both.

    I can't really tell big difference between voice quality. But, voice quality and range isn't the ony reason to consider DECT 6.0.

    My Panasonic DECT 6 phone has extra features that my 5.8 phone doesn't have, like:

    - Call Block - block up to 20 caller-id numbers

    - Night Mode - block all calls between programmed hours

    - Encrypted communications between handsets and base. With encrypton, there is no way any neighbours can snoop on your calls.

    P.S.

    DECT 6.0 technology does not include firewalls and routers.

    There are some VoIP phones that incorporate DECT 6 technology, but the firewall and router are only functions of VoIP and Internet connectivity, but is not a standard feature or specification of DECT 6.0 in general.

    Its like comparing McDonald's vs Burger King; maybe a poor analogy but you might understand;

    one is cooked on a grill and one is open flame broiled. You end up getting the same results but you go a different route to get there.

    I'm not being funny but the answer is they have different internal systems and may have a slightly different 'flavor' ie- quality, to them.

    Most people in homes find 2.4 is adequate security and clarity, some in highly populated areas find they need 5.2, others use DECT, which may be only slightly more expensive, for insurance that phone wont interfere with other stuff like a pacemaker or implanted internal hearing-aids;

    whichever you like best.

    I do not find 'DECT technology any better than other cordless phones. The DECT phones run on 1900 Mhz., rather than 2.4 or 5.8 Ghz. (A lot of 'hype')

    the Panasonic DECT 6.0 all the way

    I have a Uniden 5.8 mhz and the Dect 1.9 GigaH

    the Uniden is very good, but the DECT is the best the sound is crystal clear and it has a firewall with buildin router
