Dems Want to Drill? What's the deal with that?

Why do the Dems shy away from discussing the need to REDUCE our demand for fossil fuels? I never thought I'd see the day when Democrats would call for offshore drilling. It's making me sick.

Update:

People who think drilling will reduce the problem are mistaken. It will take 10 years to see any benefit from new drilling projects. The real question is, why aren't Obama and Biden talking about ways to reduce demand. Reduce demand TODAY.

I need to go run to the store. ;)

They are talking about drilling because more than 50% of the people want it. As soon as the election is over there will be bills passed to block it, they are already talking about that behind closed doors.

The Republicans wont be happy until they drill a few holes and prove to themselves that it is going to neither make us less dependent or lower gas prices.

Wait until those wells are dropped in outside of the 12 mile limit. Who do you think will be working there? Americans...illegal immigrants...neither.

In international waters, there will be nothing illegal about immigrants.

The oil companies can drill for pennies on the dollar using "legal immigrants".

    And the Republicans will say...???????????

We send over 700 billion dollars a year to our enemies for oil. The Dems truly are not for drilling. They would love nothing more than prices go out of control, and thus further bearing more power over we the citizen. If you follow closely, the Dems are not willing to open up those areas the experts know has oil...........only those areas that are questionable. IT's a game to them.

Furthermore, we need oil for more than just transportation. Almost everything in today's world needs oil of some form during its manufacturing process. I see you would like to live in the "stoneage" again.

I don't think they are calling for offshore drilling. Obama said he's willing to consider it as a compromise, as part of a broader energy package.

yes we need to reduce fossil fuels but at the moment we need energy and fossil fuels is the easiest thing to get. we cant shut our country down until we get clean energy. in-fact if you turned off every car or anything that produces pollution right now in america china would pick up our slack.

They agreed to offshore drilling in areas that have no oil,gas or its almost impossible to drill. Its called "feel good legislation". They can say they voted for it, but in reality its useless.
