Limit price...how does it work?

This afternoon i invested in Lehman Brothers stock.

First off was this a wise decision in your opinion.

the most important question though is:

When i went to purchase the stock, the provider said i had to set a Limit Price on it. Without having any experience in the matter i placed it at .25 cents. The stock for Lehman brothers at that time said .11 cents. I bought 30 shares. When i went to submit my purchase it rang up at $20.40, $12.99 of that was commission. What i then noticed was that it charged me .25 cents a share...what does this all mean???

A limit order specifies the highest price you are willing to pay for a stock, or the lowest price you will accept for selling stock you own. The broker will only buy or sell your stock according to the set limit. The alternative is to buy a stock at the market price, which basically gives the broker license to purchase your stock at any cost.

The only way that I can think of that you got your stock for $0.25/share is your broker unloaded some of their LEHMQ.PQ on you rather than from the open market.

No, buying Lehman stock was not a good idea, your are fortunate to have only lost $20.40. There are many reasons why this was a bad idea.

First, and don't take this the wrong way - investing in a pink sheet stock is very very risky, and investing in a defunct pink sheet financial is beyond risky, you are giving your money away.

Second, you will never recover your money on an investment that small. The problem is, that your stock will have to go up by the amount of the brokerage fee ($12.99) just to break even on paper, and another $12.99 to break even after selling the stock. So, your defunct pink sheet financial stock will have to go from its current value of $3.375 to $29.36 just so you can sell the stock without losing anything. That is not going to happen, so call $20.40 a cheap lesson.

Understand that when you are investing, you need to take the brokerage fees into account. Any stock that you purchase will have to go up by a total of $26 in order for you to break even after selling it. In my opinion, you shouldn't invest anything less than $500 and probably not less than $1000 at a time.

    Good Luck to you.

Lehman investment? Personally, no. I'm staying away from Lehman and the likes for now. Limit basically says I'll pay this, but I won't pay more then this. If Lehman was trading at .11 cents and you said I'll put a limit at .15 cents your speculating the stock is on the way up, and you don't want to pay top dollar for the day on your trade. You're hoping the stock will increase obviously. It's more or less a fill between this price and that price, and if the broker can't fill it, during the trading session, the order is killed. Hopefully I've explained it the way I understand it.

counting on how constrained the vocabulary, each and every little thing you do and each interplay with others would be affected. somebody with a heavily limited vocabulary might have a perplexing time getting an outstanding hobby, wisdom others, cashing in on education. there is not any area in existence which will get away being touched with the aid of this actual lack. in case you do no longer comprehend a thank you to particular your self, how are you able to're making somebody understand? in case you may no longer understand what somebody is telling you, how are you able to have interaction in a communicate? in case you do no longer draw close the which technique of the words, how are you going to have the means to stick to guidelines? no longer merely will this reason very much of frustration, however the guy's vanity will go through an enormous deal using fact of it. (people who can not examine go through the main. while somebody with a small vocabulary can ultimate this with the aid of analyzing and looking out up words and getting to grasp, the only which hasn't been taught to ascertain is at a distinctive downside.) Will the means to think of (or creativity) be constrained using a small vocabulary? I don’t think of so, however the expression of that inner photograph would be; the means to chat it to others is lessened. (that's oftentimes perplexing adequate to for sure modern innovations to others without the extra barrier imposed with the aid of a constrained vocabulary.) That, in turn, ends up in extra frustration. i assume i'm no longer announcing something new, as an extended way using fact the different solutions flow, yet those are a number of my techniques on your question.

Leh will most likely be worthless in the future and when the company emerges from bankruptcy if there is anything left their will be a new stock symbol issued and your shares will be worthless. I tried this with delta when it filled chapt 11 and new shares were issued.

if you're buying a limit order means "buy it at this price or lower"

if you're selling or shorting means "sell it at this price or higher"
