Good question!
A gift means something given out of love or to co-memorate an event. It is to be used/enjoyed. It is not a donation.
According to me, we should apply principle of trusteeship here.
What does it signify? How is it different from a donation or a gift?
It is something given to you to take care off & use it in the larger interest. One should live the life so that it is not spoilt. It is not wasted. It is improved or at least retain qualitatively.
Code of conduct in different situations prescribed in various holy books under-line this only.

yes, it is a gift of God and also God has another gift for us.
it is salvation.
If you receive Jesus Christ, God's only Son, you will received salvation and live together in heaven.
For Jesus is the only way to the God the Father.

Life is in God. He gives life. We do not have life of ourselves...if we did, I suppose we might choose to live forever, or when we wanted to die. We can do neither, so no, we do not have life in and of ourselves.
This mystery of life is something the scientists cannot answer.

Saying life is a gift from god is like saying a toy car that you got at Christmas was a gift from Santa.
You can say Santa gave it to you all you want, but in reality there are natural reasons for you getting it.

Yes I do. "Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward" (Psalms 127:3)
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13).
Over and over in Scripture, we see that life is sacred to God.
The battle over abortion rights is part of the age-old battle that dates all the way back to the fall of Satan. It represents the desire for God-like power and authority. This power hunger was Satan’s downfall just as it was the catalyst to the demise of Adam and Eve, thus the entire human race. Abortion is another way people play “God.” God says, “NO!”
“What about in the case of rape?” God says, “NO!” “What about to save the life of the mother?” God says, “NO!” God does not allow His people to choose when morality applies. There are no reasons for which God would ordain the taking of an innocent life. God agonizes over a young girl who is raped. He longs for her to turn to Him so that He can show her His mercy and love in the midst of her pain. But, never does He want her to end the innocent life of a baby. Murder is not only wrong, but the act would also only intensify the agony that the woman suffers already.
God never promises that this life will be easy. But, even in the midst of the hardships, He calls us to certain standards. They are non-negotiable.
"In the secret place doth he murder the innocent" (Psalms 10:8). The “secret place” is the womb of a mother. Definitely, the baby is an “innocent.”
YES TO LIFE!

He created us. I'm not sure I'd call it a gift. Would you if you make somethng call it a gift if you're not giving it to someone?

No, I don't. I'm an atheist, and I don't see life as a "gift" from anybody. Life to me is an awareness, a significant potential to interpret and contribute to one's environment. It should be protected for these reasons.

NO, there is no god who has the power to give or take life away.

yes, because when you narrow it down he's the one who created life in the 1st place
