Horned helmets of Viking warriors are largely a myth. History and archeology do, however, suggest that Norse and earlier Germanic people used a horned helmet as a type of religious headdress.

In reading about these helmets, the most commonly used term seems to be "horned helmet".

Viking Helmets didn't have horns. That's a myth that began in the 1900's. However the vikings drank out of horns. The design was called Spangenhelm, which was literally fours sheets of metal that came to a tip at the top of the helm.

The vikings did not wear horned helmets. In combat, a horn could easily

be hit or grabbed, with an effect like face-masking in football. They did

sometimes wear wings on their helmets, however.

    Viking Helmet.

    That's how it's call nowadays.

Since it did not have a special name, it use to be just called as a simple helmet in those days and it did hot have horns.
