People seems to mix the "word" Kick Boxing a lot. For example, Kick Boxing are some times used as a term to refer to stand-up type martial arts like Muay Thai, Karate, Savate, etc.

Kick Boxing as a martial art originally was created in Japan. The term itself was created by the Japanese boxing promoter Osamu Noguchi for a variant of Muay Thai and Karate that he created in the 1950s. this term was later used by the American variant. When used by the practitioners of these two styles, it tends to refer to them specifically rather than the martial arts they were derived from.

There's a lot more information. Just search it on sites like answers.com but not wikipedia. I wouldn't trust that site too much.

lol im doin a kickboxing project due and its due on the 18th. this is wat i got so far.Kickboxing is a sport that helps you with your overall physical fitness. Kickboxing was created by Tatsuo Yamada in the year 1959. There are four main punches in kickboxing and it is jab, cross, hook, and uppercut. The four main kicks are the front kick, side kick, semi circle kick and the round house kick. The equipment you need to kick box is: mouth-guard, hand-wraps, 10-oz. boxing gloves, groin guard, shin pads, and kick boots and for women it is the exact same thing except they wear a tank top and chest protection. I dont kno how but i think you might be at my school which i dont wanna say but its in the berryessa district.
