We are ruled by a group of brainless politicians and our bureaucracy is in a total mess. Its time for a change, its now up to people of India to bring that change. If we do not stand up for ourselves, we shall get beaten up and used as target practice for terrorists again and again !

Well if I answer truthfully I might get reported, apparently there are terrorist sympathizers on yahoo.
First I want to say that Im sorry for the people who have died or been wounded. How Truly sad.
I think that the taliban funded and ordered this attack, I am appalled at the carnage, I think that attacking the base of the Indian Mujaheddin is a start, We must find bin laden, I think he is behind all islamic militant terror, and I think that either he is hiding in Pakistan or possibly east africa, but its real obvious that relations with Pakistan on combating terrorists has deteriorated and I want revenge. I don't think Pakistan should threaten the united states for launching missiles against terrorists hiding in the northern border regions. I think that the individual terrorist sect or cell that attacked bombay is unrelated to al queda but are influenced and funded by them. The only way to prevent another attack is to find them and prosecute them, or find them and execute them.
All nations must come together to stomp out terrorism.

these acts of cowardice should be replied with strong military reaction. this may kill more people but it will be for good of the humanity. these terrorists and their organization need to be hunted down. we must chase them and drag them around in public and kill them the way they have spilled the innocent blood, so that they get a clear and strong message that we are not push overs and they better stay off. We have to show them that we are strong and powerful. We have to send this message loud and clear to make sure that, all those who threaten the innocent lives shall hear a deafening blow. We have to stay united and calm in this hour of great desperation and strike back with the great force. The force so powerful that all the future generations shall know the price of killing innocent people in our peaceful cities.
It is the only way now. May god bless all who hope for peace and security with freedom. Peace and security cannot be achieved by blood curdling screams of mothers and helpless children. We have to protect, preserve and serve these free societies.
i just hope that with a strong and good govt. we can survive these attacks and counter them effectively.

I was in the hospital all day and the news kept playing the same thing over and over again, which was the attacks that took place in Mumbai. I watched and think it's awful and my heart goes out to all the families who lost their loved ones and the people who are probably very scared in India right now. Hopefully all the people that are being held hostage right now are safe.

It's disgusting and horrible! Everyone is getting shot and bombed and it's so scary. People are being held hostage and have gone missing. I live in Chennai, which luckily isn't too close but I have a lot of friends in Mumbai whose parents work for the American and British Embassies, I haven't been able to talk to them yet but I hope they are all ok!

Politiacal overview: INDO - PAK
Undoubtedly a shocking incident, but here the question arises as 'what next?'. Investigations and blame games will soon be getting into effect. Indian politics (internal) has so far reacted wisely in an integrated manner, however one must keep in mind the external blame game also which may come in to effect...yes I am pointing towards Pak. So far lot many reviews have reflected Pak to be blamed for this attack including Mr Pranab Mukherjee's statement on similar lines. I must highlight following facts on the issue:
- Currently Pak itself is fighting against terrorism as being badly hit with series of blasts and attacks- made them realise the pain of terror long back.
- Involvement of individuals from Indian soil in various terror related activities including Hindu mates in recent past.
- Terrorism a global problem and not to a country specific.
- The tactics followed in Mumbai plot was closer to Al- Qaida style.
- Further evidence in this regard goes with the fact that the terrorists so far identified are not of any country specific indeed grouped from various countries like Mauritius, Britain, Pak etc. which again indicates likely chances of Al - Qaida being master mind behind this incident or probably supporting India based 'Deccan Mujahideen' or using this new group for the same.
- One must not forget that the response of Pak leaders this time was most positive to the extent that Pak readily excepted the offer to send Pak ISI chief to India to assist in investigations(may be due to the fear of international prtessure but whatever).
- Since the Pak govt came into effect, after a long rule of Military regime, one can witness refineness in Pak dealings with issues in a diplomastic fassion in way one expects from any democratic govt.
Here the readers might start doubting upon my routes... Well the point here I want to convey that, can there be any opportunity better then this to make our adversary a friend, specially the one which had always been a threat(in terms of peace and progress of Kashmir region in specific) and obstacle for the country. Above all the political issue lets face the fact that both countries have been the biggest obstacle for each other so far. But we must knoe that people on the other side are no different from us ...for all those who have served with their Pak counterparts and experienced themselves.
OK... even if we are firm that Pak is a terrorist supporting state, so what can be better if we find that the same state dedicating itself to assist in combating terrorism or assist in investigation..for eg: 'We all have seen in our child hoods, at times the most naughtorious boy of the class given monitorship to ensure better environment.' I believe this is the time to curb the naughtorious (for all those who think this way).
This is a time when our leaders shall refrain themselves from giving instigating statements. In any case it is confirmed that Pak is going to face strong international pressure on grounds of doubtfulness on terror issue. Indeed that may be one of the reasons of there defensive approach and acceptance of readily support in investgations to India for Mumbai attack.
Likly steps may be taken to deal with this situation:
- include Pak ISI in investigations thoroughly rather then giving summons.
- Rest responsibilty on shoulders of agency for specific regional investigations.
- Walk shoulder to shoulder in combating terror.
- Indian military counterparts to establish good repo with ISI chief.
- A section of RAW to get integrated with ISI on permanant bases.
- A joint working cell of RAW and ISI, based at either places i.e. Islamabad and Delhi with subsections at J&K on either side.(however lot of home work is required to bring this into effect to avoid cross intelligence)
- This cell may be headed by senior IB/RAW/Military Intelligence officer(retd) independent of home ministry.
- As matter of fact to counter such incidents the most important requirement is to make our intelligence structure more potent and advanced- THE ONLY KEY OF SUCCESS, PERMANENT IN NATURE.
The need of the day demands combined intelligence network then to work in isolation.
As far as intrinsic measures are concerned, off the political beat, may include modernisation of forces, acquiring advance security gudgets, making security more foolproof, curbing intrusions of non citizens from unauthorised routes in wake of ploitical support etc are various other measures which is know to all of us and to the officials too.
The above approach is a forethought in optimism (I am sure not overboard but simple). We have to first think it, plan it, organise it, practice it, face it and then comment upon it. Pre-mature fixed thought process may not fetch rationalised thinking.
Comments upon this thoughtprocess are awaited.
